Program description
Do you work in the fields of design, textile design, architecture, art, literature, performative arts or on transdisciplinary projects and have a strong interest in textile production and its context? Then the TaDA artist-in-residence program offers you the opportunity to work with renowned textile companies in Eastern Switzerland.
Every year, six residents from Switzerland and abroad have the opportunity to work with the partner companies for three months, use a studio in Arbon and network in various contexts. The residency includes:
- Accommodation in Arbon (room with shared use of kitchen and bathroom), a few minutes from the Werkraum and Lake Constance
- travel expenses
- Contribution to living expenses
- Workplace in the former textile and engine factory in Arbon (now the ZIK creative center)
- Work materials
- Individual and technical support from selected experts from the partner companies, selected use of their infrastructure
- On-site support
Institution
TaDA Textile and Design Alliance
TaDA - Textile and Design Alliance is a joint cultural promotion program of the cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Thurgau. Its aim is to promote the artistic exploration of Eastern Switzerland's textile and design culture and thus strengthen regional identity. The link to practice and to the textile companies based in the region is a central component and fruitful for both sides. Every year, TaDA offers six to eight national and international people the opportunity to work in Switzerland. The residents develop innovative projects in the fields of art, design, architecture, literature, performing arts or in transdisciplinary contexts. As program partners, textile and design companies from Eastern Switzerland make their know-how and technology available to the artists and designers, thus enabling the residents to carry out practical and artistic work as well as applied research. For their part, the partners benefit from the creative exchange with the invited designers and artists.
