BERLIN AiR Artist-in-Residency Guanajuato

Program description

The Artist-in-Residence programs offer selected filmmakers* the opportunity to gain international experience and establish industry contacts. The grant covers travel and accommodation costs and includes an allowance of approximately €2.000 for the entire stay.

This stay will allow a German filmmaker to live in Guanajuato for two months to develop a new project, improve his/her skills and get to know the film industry in Mexico.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to gain insight into the Mexican production landscape and meet producers and professionals that fit their profile.

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH (MBB)

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH has been commissioned by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg to promote the development of the audiovisual sector in the joint media region, thereby strengthening it in Germany and Europe. The goals of the funding are to support the qualitative and quantitative further development of Berlin-Brandenburg's media culture and economy, to facilitate a diverse and qualitatively distinguished film, television and media production in Berlin-Brandenburg,to promote young talent, to strengthen the economic performance of media companies, especially independent production companies and technical service providers with the necessary infrastructure in the region, and to present the region at home and abroad.

To support innovation in the audiovisual creative industry, the MBB offers its own event formats. It also supports events with a focus on the future of audiovisual media.

Residency

Funding criteria

• German film professionals (primarily directors and scriptwriters) with a proven professional background in film and television
• Permanent residents of Germany
• Applicants must have completed or worked on at least one film of a minimum of 30 min. in any genre or format
• The completed film must have been supported by a film fund, a professionally recognized body or organisation, or have been commissioned by a broadcaster

• The film must have won local and international recognition, acclaim and prizes

• a statement explaining why you want to be an artist-in-residence in Guanajuato;
• a CV;
• a written description and concept of the project (treatment/synopsis or written presentation) maximum 5 pages;
• an example of previous work (Vimeo Link or similar)
