Program description
Since 2019, Künstlerhof Frohnau and Kunstamt Reinickendorf have been offering the Dieter Ruckhaberle Funding Award, which commemorates the life and work of the artist, curator and cultural politician Dieter Ruckhaberle.
Institution
Künstlerhof Frohnau e.V.
The Künstlerhof Frohnau is a place of artistic production in the far north of Berlin. Since 1998, painters, sculptors, ceramists, graphic artists, glass, concept, video and internet artists, writers, photographers, musicians, composers, dancers and actors have been residing on more than 3,000 square meters of studio space in a former forest hospital. The project has been made possible since the beginning with the kind support of the Reinickendorf district office and a great deal of initiative on the part of the artists.
Funding criteria
The call for proposals is aimed at professional visual artists regardless of age, origin or artistic medium. It is aimed in particular at artists who are striving for further artistic development or specific work projects (e.g. work on a specific theme). The criteria for awarding the prize are primarily quality, capacity for development and continuity. The call for entries deliberately sets no restrictions in terms of media or content and is explicitly open to interdisciplinary artistic practices. The participating artists should have proven themselves in the past through their work and should provide evidence of this in the form of 3-5 work samples. The participating artists are not enrolled at a university. Groups of artists can also apply. Partners and/or children are welcome in the guest studio. Funding within the framework of the Ruckhaberle Prize is only possible once. For a period of up to two months, the fellows will receive a fully equipped, spacious residential studio (155 sqm) at Künstlerhof Frohnau Berlin, as well as a production budget of 2,000 euros. The residency is followed by a solo exhibition in an exhibition space in Berlin Reinickendorf.
