Program description
The Kommunale Galerien Tempelhof-Schöneberg are offering the HAUS am KLEISTPARK photography scholarship. The scholarship is endowed with €5,000 and is awarded to photographers who live and work in Berlin for the realization of a photographic project.
The aim of the scholarship is to support artists and expand the Haus am Kleistpark's contemporary photography collection. Support is given to contemporary documentary photography in the broadest possible interpretation of the term, from classic auteur photography to conceptual approaches. The project proposals to be submitted should deal with the Tempelhof-Schöneberg metropolitan district. An independent photographic perspective on the district as an urban living space of a diverse society is desired. Architectural as well as cultural and social processes can be reflected artistically within the framework of the scholarship.
Institution
Haus am Kleistpark
The exhibition venue known as Haus am Kleistpark is considered one of the largest and most traditional municipal galleries in Berlin. Two other locations are affiliated with it: Haus am Kleistpark | Projektraum and the Galerie im Tempelhof Museum. Until 2016, it also occupied exhibition spaces in the Galerie im Rathaus Tempelhof. As non-commercial spaces for the mediation of contemporary art, the municipal galleries stand for cosmopolitanism, experimentation and artistic discoveries at a high level. Local-urban reference and intercultural exchange are combined with the inclusion of global contexts. Their tasks as municipal galleries are cultural district development, the promotion of artists, basic work for the art sector, as well as the sustainable accompaniment of current issues in discourse.
